I found these amazing shells walking the shores of Isla de Bastimentos and was captivated by how much they resembled the spine. In the chakra system, we visualize and use diagrams of the seven energy centers traveling up the spine (see next photo). We identify basic issues and elements and rights and identities related/connected with each chakra center... as I study this exquisite third dimensional system, understanding the related identity to the area of which I'm focusing or meditating on helps immensely. Especially when working with the egoic natures...

water and warmth are so restorative to me; as is play. I'm starting to learn how stress indeed compounds, and "self-care" means more than getting a massage every once and awhile. I'm leaning into the idea lately that life is happening for me, including the stressors and tough stuff in between the joy and ease.
One mantra I continue to come back to as I expand my gratitude capacity - with right hand over anahata (heart chakra), relax and take at least three slow, long breaths (4 seconds in, 6 seconds out) cleansing breaths. Repeat the following at least three times: "My heart is open. I give and receive love constantly."
Re-establish your connection between body and spirit. It's your birth right to feel safe and embodied <3
Embrace your body and honor its needs. Take time to breathe, stretch, and find balance through yoga.

Cultivating mindfulness is an art and takes practice. One of my go-to ways to drop inwards, is to get intimate with my breath. The breath is always, only happening in the present moment, so each time we bring our attention to the it, we’re essentially practicing mindfulness.
Try this:
Set a timer and any expectations of your monkey mind aside for 2-3 minutes.
Inhale for 5 seconds
Exhale for 8 seconds

Everyone has sh*t to do, especially when you’re trying to get your day going. If we’re not mindful we can easily end up dismissing all hunger cues and go 0-hangry, brain foggy, tummy discomfy... I say “break my fast” instead of “breakfast,” because I LOVE breakfast food, however, this bad baby is made for function, not fun. I know that I can set myself up for sustained energy and focus by nourishing my body first thing with a healthy dose of REAL food. I cycle off and on plant based protein supplements, but mostly use plain Greek yogurt + other whole food protein sources I’ll share. Personally, I’m not typically hungry for at least the first 2hrs of waking, so drinking breakfast after a 12-14hr fasting period feels easier.
Try this:
Base: organic pure beet juice or coconut milk (with no additives)
Protein: plain yogurt, or collagen peptides, or a high quality plant based protein such as Truvani
Plant based protein: 1Tblsp of chia seeds, flaxseed meal, or hempt hearts.
Fiber (optional): I add natural fiber in the form of psyllium husk to my smoothie to help stay regulated
Greens: collard (wash it up then chop it up!)
Fruit: banana helps knock the edge off any earthiness from the juice
I have come to believe that the closer you are to nature, the more natural gratitude you feel. I think perhaps it's because nature does what nature does. You can't order it around, you can't demand from it, and it doesn't argue with you. It does what it does, and you can work with it, or not; it doesn't care...
